WICHITA, Kan. – Following an epic performance in winning the program's sixth straight KCAC Women's Indoor Track & Field championship, the Friends University Falcons are duly represented in the South Central Regional awards list. Head Coach Henry Brun is the regional Coach of the Year, Jason Parr is the region's top assistant coach, while senior Lauren Doll (SR/Leon, Kan.) is the Women's Field Athlete of the Year.

Brun has taken the reins of an elite Falcon unit and is quickly carving out his own niche with the program. In his first season at the helm, Brun has guided the Falcons to the No. 9 ranking in the USTFCCCA ratings index and the top spot in the South Central Region. In capturing the KCAC Championship, the Falcons won conference titles in seven events and set a new meet record.

"I am truly honored to be selected for this regional award," Brun said. "I firmly believe that acknowledgments such as these are a direct reflection of the hard work put in by all of our coaches and athletes throughout the season. It's such a blessing to be a part this program, which is always striving for excellence."

Parr, in his third season with the program, continues excellent work with the Falcons' distance runners. Of the Falcons' 213 points at the KCAC Meet, 99 came from Parr's distance group.

"Coach Parr has been a tremendous mentor to our student-athletes and has helped our women's middle/long distance become a dominant force in the South Central region," Brun said. "With his event group leading the way, we were able to clinch our sixth straight indoor conference title. His leadership has been crucial to our success this season."

Doll captured her second straight KCAC Women's Indoor Athlete of the Meet honor and was recently named the NAIA Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.

The Leon, Kan. native dominated the meet, winning conference championships in the Long Jump (5.66m), Triple Jump (11.75m) and 60 Hurdles (9.26) while also helping the Falcons win the KCAC title in the 4 X 400 relay (4:05.77).

Doll finished with 40.5 total points for the meet and hit the NAIA "A" National Qualifying standard in both the Triple Jump and Long Jump. Her 11.75m mark in the Triple Jump is ranked eighth in the NAIA, while her 5.66m Long Jump is 12th nationally.

"Lauren is a very special type of athlete," Brun said. "She always seems to rise to the occasion when it matters most and it shows in how incredible her indoor season has been. This award is a true testament to her diligence and grit in the toughest of competitions. I am hoping that she caps this final indoor season off right, with a couple of All-American performances."

The Falcons are now gearing up for the NAIA Meet, set for this weekend (Mar. 5-7) in Brookings, S.D.
