Cedar Rapids, Iowa - The Friends University Women's (5K) & Men's (8K) cross country teams competed Saturday (Oct. 20) at the NAIA Seminole Valley Stampede in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, which will serve as the home of the NAIA National Cross Country Meet on Nov 18th.

The women's Falcons placed 10th out 27 complete teams, led by Christa Titus (SR/Grinnell, Iowa) with an 18th place finish and a time of 19:36. 

"She had a stronger race today against some good competition," Friends head coach Jason Parr said. Miranda Tenove (JR/Olathe, Kan.) (20:03) and Kara Zahariades (SO/Phoenix, Arizona) (20:26) finished real close to each other at 57th and 58th overall, respectively. 

"I thought all the girls we took down to Seminole valley had a much better weekend," Parr said.  We raced harder against good competition today.  We are looking forward to the conference meet in a couple of weeks."

On the men's side, the Falcons came in 11th out of 23 complete teams.

"It was nice to have senior Isaac Sprague (SR/Concordia, Kan.) lead the way for our team today," Parr said. 

"Our guys ran well together for most of the race and improved upon their average time for the season.   Jonathan Jones (FR/Derby, Kan. ), Logan White (JR/Wichita, Kan.), Nathan Mier (FR/Wichita, Kan. ) and Avery Stuever (FR/Towanda, Kan. ) finished within one place of each other.  Reno Ferris (SR/Cheney, Kan.) had his best race of the season.  I feel like we are heading in the right direction as we get closer to the conference race in two weeks."
