[Cross Country] Cross Country Competes at NAIA Mid-States ClassicPublished by
Friends traveled to Winfield, KS for the NAIA Mid-States Classic, hosted by Southwestern College Saturday morning for their final tuneup before the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships in two weeks. In the women's race, 29 teams and 252 individuals competed in the Falcon's biggest meet of the season so far. Leading the way for Friends was senior Rachel Renken (Downs, KS) who finished in 33rd place. Renken set a new all-time best with her run of 18:51.91, as she finished behind only two other KCAC runners. Freshman Destyni Lucero (Liberal, KS) and senior Connie Collins (Magnolia, OH) were the next highest placing Falcons in 123rd and 124th place respectively. Friends ended up finishing 16th as a team. 33. Rachel Renken - 18:51.91 On the men's side, there were 229 individuals and 25 teams competing. Top finishers for Friends were senior Brock Nooney (Haysville, KS) and junior Peyton Wade (Haviland, KS), who came in 42dn and 43rd respectively, less than a second apart. They were the 13th and 14th place finishers among KCAC athletes. Also finishing in the top 100 for the Falcons was freshman Brooks Rummery (Maize, KS) with a 72nd place finish. As a team, Friends finished 11th, behind Southwestern and Saint Mary, but ahead of Tabor, Sterling, McPherson, and Kansas Wesleyan from the KCAC. 42.
