Brookings, S.D. – The Friends University Women's and Men's Indoor Track & Field Falcons competed at the NAIA Indoor Meet and put in multiple standout performances, combining for 13 All-America showings this past weekend in Brookings, S.D.

The Women's Falcons, fresh off their sixth straight KCAC indoor championship, recorded 32 points as team to post a solid sixth-place finish at the NAIA meet, while the Men's Falcons placed 30th with eight points.

Led by the trio of Aileen Gurrola (JR/Garden City, Kan.), Miranda Tenove (SR/Gardner, Kan.) and Aubry Donley (FR/Lincoln, Kan. ), the Falcons received three All-America finishes in the 1000 meter run.  Gurrola came in fourth (2:55.95), with Tenove (2:56.87) and Donley (3:02.33) coming in sixth and seventh, respectively.

Lauren Doll (SR/Leon, Kan.), the KCAC Indoor Athlete of the Meet, wrapped up her historic indoor career with the Falcons with an All-America mark of 12.02m in the Triple Jump to finish third in the event.

Gurrola, Tenove and Donley teamed up with Caroline Giles (FR/Minneapolis, Kan.) for a third-place and All-America showing in the 4 X 800 relay (9:25.70), while Kortney Schutt (SR/Haysville, Kan.) recorded a school-record 18.03m weight throw to come in fifth for her first career All-America honor.

The Falcons also did well in the 3k Race Walk, with Kayla Allen (JR/Lewiston, Maine) (15:08.44) posting a top-five finish and Jolene Jenson (15:19.23) coming in seventh to achieve All-America status. Moira Burgess (SO/Monmouth, Maine) produced a personal-best time of 16:39.74 to come in 11th.

Elaina Henderson (JR/San Antonio, Texas) also finished 14th in the Triple Jump with an indoor PR of 11.46m and the Distance Medley unit of Gurrola, Tenove, Donley and Jaylen Knight (SO/Omaha, Neb.) just missed the finals with a school record time of 12:21.28.

"It was a hard fought weekend for our women at the National Championships," Friends head coach Henry Brun said. "We were firing on all cylinders, having season and personal bests while rewriting the T&F record books. There were moments where things didn't go our way and there were events where we left points on the table, however we bounced back and there were huge performances by Kortney Schutt and Jolene Jensen (SO/Exira, Iowa) – initially ranked outside of the top eight, but finished as All-Americans – that kept us in the hunt for our top six team finish. I was proud of how resilient and composed we stayed throughout the three-day competition."

Cadin Gustafson (JR/Derby, Kan.) fueled the Men's Falcons efforts with a third-place finish in the Heptathlon (4,842 points) to notch the first indoor All-America result of his career. He finished second in the Long Jump (6.64m) and third in both the 60 meter run (7.25) and the 60 Hurdles (8.46).

Brayden Wells (SO/Wichita, Kan. ) then stepped up to capture his first career All-America honor with a school record and seventh-place finish in the Weight Throw (18.02m).

In the men's 3k Race Walk, Jadon Davis (FR/Baltimore, MD) came in ninth with a personal best time of 14:16.04.

Chiante Stewart (SO/Calhan, Co.) also recorded a 15th place finish in the Triple Jump with a small indoor PR of 14.14m, with Isaac Campbell (SO/Sedan, Kan.) also qualifying to compete in the Shot Put.

"Our men's group was small, but mighty," Brun said. "Cadin had a great All-American performance in the multi and Brayden really locked in to improve from his initial ranking (13th) to snag a spot on the podium with yet another record setting throw. We had a couple other events which were just shy of placing as well. The men's program is heading in the right direction with solid representation at the national meet."

The Falcons are now gearing up for the upcoming outdoor season, set to begin on Mar. 20 at the West Texas A&M Spring Break Meet in Canyon, Texas.

"Overall, this weekend helped us take another significant stride in making Friends T&F a true contender on the national stage," Brun said. "I am excited for what's in store for the outdoor season. I really think we are going to surprise some people."
