Friends Track and Field coaches Damian Smithhisler and Cole Davis have been named to the Shocker Track Club for the 2014-2015 year, joining 19 other individuals to help run the group.

"I'm excited to join the Shocker Track Club Board. This is a great local organization that looks to grow cross country and track & field for youth, masters, open, and elite competitors," said Smithhisler. "The Wichita area has a lot of individuals with a passion for XC & T&F, and STC provides an avenue for them to compete, officiate, and support with that passion.

"Coach Davis and I want to not only grow our teams here at Friends University, but to help foster the development of all of those in the sport in our community as well. We expect to help put on meets, organize officials and volunteers, and use our connections to help provide for this club."

The mission of the STF is to identify volunteers and officials to help facilitate area track & field and cross country meets, organize and facilitate those meets, and support the training and competition efforts of athletes by sponsoring clubs to foster development and competition opportunities.

"I am very excited about the opportunity to become a board member for STC. This organization has a passion for the sport of track & field and I look forward to using my knowledge to assist them in organizing multiple youth, collegiate, and masters meets throughout the year," Davis said. "The track & field following in Wichita is growing because of the STC and I am excited to become a bigger part of that community."
